One Hundred Books
I've always loved reading.
When I was younger, I was constantly reading. I devoured books - absorbed every word and, if I loved it, could almost repeat the story back word for word. My earliest memory of reading is being sat on a cushion in my parents living room, reading 'The Hound of the Baskervilles', while my dad watched football. Or maybe its my mum reading 'Harry Potter' books to my brother and I while our cat (who really did look a lot like Professor McGonagall) listened along. Who knows? Almost all of my childhood memories are based around books.
When I was nine or ten my teacher caught me reading under the table during class - a maths class - and called my mum into school. I don't remember this, but I remember that the book I was reading was 'Gubbslyme' Jacqueline Wilson, and that in this classroom, my desk was right next to the bookshelves, so really... what was she expecting?
Growing up, I've always been very influenced by the books I was reading. Its interesting how much of peoples favourite books you can see in their personalities.
The point is, I love to read. But over the last few years, what with university and part time jobs, coursework and deadlines, I've fallen out of the habit of picking up a book to relax. I fell into the habit of just putting Netflix on, and watching a show with a cup of tea in bed - and thats great too. I've missed reading though.
So.
This year I'm going to read 100 books.
It's February 25th as I write this, and my total thus far is 14 books, with one more that I'm currently reading. I'm excited - its really nice to be this absorbed by books again.
Wish me luck!
